Ph.D., FSA, FSA Scot
Roger founded the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Research Trust in 2004, after teaching archaeology at the University of Leeds for 16 years. Prior to that he taught at the University of Leicester while completing his PhD on Iron Age settlement in North West Scotland. His professional career in archaeology began at the age of 14 during school holidays, and he has worked on excavations in the UK, France and the Philippines. Roger has directed projects on the Isles of Skye  and Mull and the Orkney islands off the coast of Scotland. He is now investigating the neglected wealth of archaeological evidence in the Yorkshire Dales, with funding for a major three-year project on the internationally-important historic landscape around Grassington in Upper Wharfedale.
