Far from being just a buzzword, Outreach is a vital and core part of the Nautical Archaeology Society's activities and something to which all members can contribute; spreading the word about NAS, its aims, activities, training schemes and project opportunities and cultivating increased awareness of our maritime heritage. The target audiences for Outreach are diverse; the general public, the sports diving community, schools, local history and archaeology societies, sympathetic organizations, funding agencies, political lobby groups and potential sponsors.
Whatever your background and experience, we are always looking for additional volunteers to help with the maritime research being conducted in Northwestern Michigan; whether you are interested in joining field-research, hosting talks to groups in your local area, joining the library-based research team, helping to set up a local training course, or just turning up to help us run specific events, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We are always pleased to travel to your location, throughout Michigan, to give presentations based on our research. We can also provide courses in most areas of the United States providing a minimum of 10 students can attend.
Maritime heritage belongs to everyone and the greater the number of people taking an active interest in its promotion and protection the greater the likelihood that that it can be preserved for future generations.
